Match Report ........
The table doesnt lie, thats a fact. Irvine City FC earned a valuable 9 points in the Raul Briones Cup Sunday afternoon against HB Strikers to remain unbeaten in the competition. City started off very bright and threw everything but the kitchen sink at HB. They were soon rewarded when Lill lofted a speculative cross to the back post, Richardson finding himself unmarked binned it to make it 1-0. HB strikers realizing at this point; they had a lot on their plate.

10 mins later Richardson scored again to double the lead. Finding the ball at his feet, a mere 5 yards out, he neatly placed one past the sieve in goal to make it 2-0. The rest of the first half was a rather dull affair, with nothing more than a Douglas 50 yard attempt and a briscoe spooned shot coming close to troubling the HB keeper.

The second half didnt improve much, the two highlights being Ross and Valenzuela proving they were a couple of tumblers, falling heavily after strong challenges from absolutely nobody. It appeared that both sides were a little drained following the thanksgiving break. Attempts from Murphy and Richardson in the second half may have increased the lead, but in the end city had to settle for 2-0 and 9 points.

Certainly not a performance worthy of being a cup holder but a fair result against First Division opposition. Next week, City find themselves out of the frying pan and into the fire against another First division team in Internationalze. They aim for no forks in the road as they continue their Raul Briones path.
